Drum legend Carmine Appice has just released “Guitar Zeus – Conquering Heroes” which is a combination of the two “Guitar Zeus” CD’s that Carmine released during the late 90’s. Just recently, Carmine called us at the RockMusicStar office to discuss this groundbreaking release.

RockMusicStar-“Guitar Zeus” is an incredible compilation that features some of the best guitarist on the face of the Planet. Now, I know that you’re regarded as one of the most influential drummer of all time, but still how were you able to get all of those musicians to participate?

Carmine Appice -Well, originally Kelly Keeling and I starting writing material. We then got bassist Tony Franklin involved. We recorded all the songs as a band, together. Then we started thinking, hey I wonder who would be good on this track and that track. At this point, I already had commitments from Brian May, Ted Nugent and the guys from Kings X to participate. That was a great start, because now I could call others and tell them who we already had. I called Yngwie and told him and he said he wanted to be on the track with Doug Pinnick from Kings X because he always loved his voice and wanted to do something with him. So I said cool, and put him on the track. So then I had Yngwie too. So it kind of happened like that.
