George Lynch - "Legacy"

By Thomas S. Orwat, Jr.

Ex-Dokken guitarist, George Lynch proves that he is still one of the most gifted musicians on the planet with this all instrumental, four track EP. While he has struggled to find his true identity outside of Dokken, with a few hit, and mostly miss releases outside of the aforementioned band, this EP is a “full on, shred-fest” and perhaps Mr. Lynch’s most extraordinary work yet.

This EP, which also features veteran musicians Rev Jones - bass and Michael Frowen -drums, kicks off with "Blood Drive," which is a hard hitting, groove infested track fortified with tasty leads and vintage 80’s two-hand tapping. The progressive, "Circulo Del Fuego" follows with Lynch and band, locking in for an all out auditory assault to the senses.

The third track, "Invoid," utilizes every guitar god trick in the book, sublimated with Lynch’s unique and vintage killer tone, and dare I say a close cousin to his trade-mark classic track “Mr. Scary.” This track is absolutely incredible and truly showcases Lynch’s virtuosic talents. The EP concludes with the stunning, ballad-esque, “The Road Ahead.” This song builds with intensity, with Lynch’s uncanny ability to blend technique and feeling into his playing.

If you forgot how talented George Lynch really is, pick up "Legacy" and you will be quickly reminded.  George Lynch is a true guitar hero.  He needs to continue in this direction and release a full length, all instrumental recording soon!!!
