Kid Rock - press conference - Buffalo, NY Nov. 20, 2011

Review and photos by Diana MacDonald

Buffalo, NY - Not long after finishing a summer shed tour, the multi-faceted entertainer, Kid Rock, announced that he would be doing a special, winter club tour to coincide with the release of his latest single "Care," which comes off of his 2010 album, "Born Free." The purpose behind this 10 city tour was to show support for cities in need, as Kid Rock donated money (provided via the Kid Rock Foundation) to local charities, causes and individuals in each market. With Buffalo, New York being the third stop of the tour, the local charities selected were: Music is Art, Gaunches Unite, Boys & Girls Club Buffalo and Special Spaces Buffalo.

On the afternoon of Kid Rock's performance at Buffalo's Town Ballroom, a press conference was held for the local media and RockMusicStar was invited to attend the conference.

At 6:30PM, the press conference was held in the main room of the Town Ballroom. A subdued Kid Rock entered the room, wearing a baseball cap and a 'Members Only' style jacket. He sat at a table between the representatives of the different charities that were chosen to receive the much needed benefits. He appeared very humbled and appreciate to be in the position to help some of those in need. He spoke of being a single father and of his love of Detroit, and about some of the opportunities he has had, in being able to be a goodwill ambassador of both the city of Detroit, and his home state of Michigan. He mentioned his contributions to the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as the similarity between Detroit and Buffalo - which was one of the reasons he chose this city for this amazing tour. After fielding questions from the media, as well as listening to the plights described by the different charities, and being moved to understand why these charities were chosen, Kid Rock posed for photos before leaving to get ready for the evening's concert. In closing, in this day and age of greed being exposed more and more, it was refreshing to see a true artist like Kid Rock showing his social awareness on his tattooed sleeve.
