Buffalo, NY - Today, at Goo Goo Doll Robby Takac's GCR recording studio, in downtown Buffalo, RockMusicStar.com webmaster - Thomas Orwat Jr. and I (John Jeffrey), were invited to a private acoustic concert, performed by the band Kopek. Tom and I were part of an exclusive group of less than a dozen people (comprised of members of the press and a few lucky fans) who witnessed a great performance, by a new uprising band out of Dublin, Ireland.

The trio performed three songs, which were broadcast live on 103.3 the Edge and then played a few more songs - off air - to their captive crowd. The studio room, that they were set up in, was the most intimate setting you could imagine. Aside from having sex with an acoustic guitar, one could not be any closer to the music Kopek was playing. The dark lighting and candles really set the mood for the band's acoustic renditions of their favorite songs from their "White Collar Lies" CD, including their latest single, "Cocaine Chest Pains."

To make this performance even more unique, drummer Shane Cooney joined singer/guitarist Daniel Jordan and bassist Brad Kinsella for their acoustic jam, but instead of playing the drums or any "gay percussion instruments" (as Shane put it), he played acoustic guitar. Shane played some great counterpoint guitar parts to Dan's rhythm playing, and not for a moment, would anyone think it was 'just a drummer' banging out some chords.

It was really cool of Kopek to use their day off their tour with Cold, in order to make a stop here in Buffalo, to share their brand of straight ahead rock, with the WEDG listeners, and our private gathering. However, Kopek will be coming back to the area in May, playing full on electric and to a much bigger crowd.
