The Sno-core tour hits Buffalo, but with no snow or Saliva

Buffalo, NY- The fourth annual Sno-Core tour made its way to downtown Buffalo and no, there wasn't any snow on this mild late April evening. But what was present were three hard hitting, stylistically different bands heating up the metal music loving packed club. Static -X, Burn Halo and the Flood were the featured artists on this tour. The band Saliva was originally schedule to play as well, but dropped off the tour a week ago when vocalist Josie Scott took ill, still suffering from complications of a recent surgery.

Headliners Static-x took the stage a bit late, but quickly made up for it with an intense and brutal set, which featured a healthy variety of tracks from their seven studio releases. Static-X is a band that is currently experiencing a bit of resurgence. With the release of their new CD "Cult of Static," their new single "Stingwray" and Wayne Static’s highly publicized marriage to porn star Tera Wray, this band is arguably more popular than ever before.

With strobe lights flashing, Static-X kicked off the evening with “Lunatic” the first song from their new release “Static Cult.” On the CD, this track features Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine. But in concert guitarist Koichi Fukuda plays the main lead and does an amazing job of copping the vibe that Mustaine provided on the studio version. The dark and intense “Dirthouse” followed. Static-X owned the crowd at this point. After the conclusion of the song, Wayne’s wife Tera Wray walked on the stage with cups of shots for each band member. The audience cheered wildly when she turned around and exposed her thong only covered backside. And to the delight of the audience we would see much more of Mrs. Static throughout the evening.

Midway through the set the band performed the song that everyone wanted to hear, their new single “Stingwray.” Within the first couple power chords, the crowd went absolutely full-on-nuts. A giant mosh pit broke out and the band fed off the energy of the audience and performed with a fury. Bassist Tony Campos was especially impressive with his head banging bass lines and growling back up vocals. This is the song that will most certainly bring the band to the next level. Check out our exclusive live video on the bottom of the page.

“The band then proceeded with ”Destroyer”, “Cold” and “Bled for Days.” They then broke into the new track “Z28” which instantly turned into another crowd pleaser. “Cannibal” and the twisted love song “Love Dump” followed. The band then left the stage, but quickly called back for the two song encore “This is Not” and the band’s first single from their debut release “Push it.” The show ended and everyone witness the rebirth of a band that many considered as being passe. But instead, Static-X has evolved into one of the most exciting and creative bands in metal.
